10 year blogiversary

10 years! 10 years ago I was a wife spending 2 weeks home with my husband who just had foot surgery (on both feet at once) and I couldn’t stand just being home. Nursing a sick husband just wasn’t enough to fulfill my day, sorry hubby. I decided to push post on a project I had been thinking of for years. So I did the thing. I pushed post and created a blog.

The original picture I posted to kick start the blog

It started out as a way to share positive thoughts about agriculture and correct all the mistakes on the internet. That has always been the mission of this space. To share accurate information about farming, almonds, homestead life, family farming. I hope I am still a place for this.

But as I grew over the years, so did this space. We started growing a family only one after starting this blog. I morphed into sharing what it was like raising kids on the farm. Soon after having my son, I quit my 8-5 corporate job to stay home and grow my writing gig. I went from blogging to also being a freelance writer to share my perspective on agriculture with a bigger audience.

Social media then came about as a larger platform and grew bigger than blogs. I jumped on the Facebook and Instagram platforms, where you can still find me today @AlmondGirlJenny. It has been harder and harder to keep the blogging side up over the past 10 years. I used to post weekly blogs, today I am lucky to post a couple times a year.

3 years ago, I launched the blog into a e-commerce website and went live with our family farm fresh almonds and farm theme designs. I had been asked for years where people could buy our almonds, unfortunately the way the system was in place I didn’t have an answer for people. I am so proud today to bring you our family farm fresh almonds direct from the farm!

man, it has been a wild ride. I have thought about quitting multiple times, but I am so glad I kept going. This space is yours and place to come find something real. Real farm struggles, real recipes, real experiences, real thoughts. I am so thankful you are all here to continue to support our family, this blog and our ventures in farming. We appreciate you and your support.

thank you for being here.

Thanks for coming along on this wild ride. Cheers to many more blogiversaries!

Until Next Time,

Almond Girl Jenny
